The rotary compression machine is widely used to make tablets for the pharmaceutical industry. We have many kinds of machines but they all work on the same principle. The structure of the machine will vary according to capacity and use. The heavy-duty motor operates the beater assembly and has a star-delta starter with overload relay. We adjust the speed with a step pulley. Coupling is provided between the motor shaft rotor shaft for easy maintenance. Oil seals prevent the liquid from going into the motor winding.
The unique design of teeth in rotor-stator
Housing is designed in such a way for the extended bearing so that we can easily make fine adjustments for bearing clearance or backlash. This will help prevent metal to metal contact of rotor-stator. The design is unique and provides consistent all-round performance that gives long life to the rotor-stator. Good powdering effect
This could reduce the HP of the machine. It gives a better performance in size reduction. Product is kept in the hopper slide in an enclosed chamber. It is milled between the beaters and screen so that the required micron size is obtained. This is collected at the bottom of the container.
The equality of the output depends on three main variables:
- Speed
- Screen size
- Beater shape
We use the knife-edge for large or coarse particles. When we want to do fine grinding, we use high speed, for coarser particles we use low speed. We can change the screen size according to the need at the moment.
The tabletting machine
The main parts of the Rotary tablet compression machine are like this. It has a hopper which takes in the feed material and keeps the powder that you need to press. The die cavity is designed to hold the right amount of material and is fashioned in the shape of the tablet that you must make. Right next to this, we have the feed paddle that directs the material into the die.
Working of dies and punches
Punches are dies are used to make the tablet through compression. You can see the cam track that guides the upper and lower punches. Installed in the machine are the capacity controls that help regulate the amount of material used to make the tablet. The first stage is the powder filling stage where you place the powder in the hopper from where it is guided through the tooling system of the machine and gets ready for compression.
The geometrical shape of the hoppers helps maintain the constant flow. Next is the powder metering process which is a precise mechanism for the filling and compaction of the powder. It has to remove any excess powder and the die cavity must be filled exactly.
